KOCHI: The Kalamassery police have arrested three members of a ‘quotation’ gang who allegedly assaulted an autorickshaw driver.
The accused are Basheer C.A. alias Reneesh, 29, a native of Chavakad; Naushad M.V, 25, of Mananthavady, and Sheero K.S., 29, of Muvattupuzha. While the first two are online taxi drivers in Kochi, the third is an autorickshaw driver.
According to the police, the incident happened on October 16 after they hired the victim’s autorickshaw from Edappally Toll Junction to Cusat campus. “Two of the accused travelled in the autorickshaw, while the third followed them in a car. When the vehicle reached a secluded place, the car intercepted the autorickshaw, and the three assaulted the driver,” the police said.
