CHENNAI: In a bid to woo investment into Tamil Nadu and improve the ease of doing business, the State government on Thursday launched a single-window portal that integrates 37 services of 11 departments to make clearance of investment projects much faster and simpler.

Launched by CM ‘Edappadi’ K Palaniswami, the portal, www.easybusiness.tn.gov.in, is backed by the TN Business Facilitation Ordinance, which  stipulates the time frame for getting investment projects cleared.
Some of the departments wherein clearances are integrated include the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Fire and Rescue Services department, Labour and Industrial Security, Health and Planning departments like Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority and the Directorate of Town and Country Planning.

It is learnt there are plans to set up a State Single Window Monitoring Committee, which could also act as an appellate authority to redress grievances. The committee is likely to provide a time frame of 30 to 45 days to raise grievances, which also have to be settled within the deadline. Similarly, plans are afoot to set up an Investment Promotion and Monitoring Board, which would meet four times a year to review disposal of applications submitted through the single-window portal.
