Mumbai: Fire at new eatery in Andheri on first day; 3 injured

Three employees of a small restaurant that opened on Wednesday in Andheri (east) suffered burns after cooking gas leak from a cylinder led to a blast. One of the employees sustained serious injuries and is recuperating in hospital.

“The restaurant was located on the ground floor of a Ground + 6 building in our society. It was a small restaurant and inaugurated today itself. Around 6.15pm, there was some leakage from one of the cylinders that caused the fire. Three employees were injured and rushed to hospital,” said an officer-bearer of Kamlesh Co-operative Housing Society in Andheri (E) where the eatery is located.

Zonal deputy commissioner of police N Reddy said, “While one of the employees sustained 40 per cent burn injuries, the other two are said to be stable. We are checking if there was negligence on the part of anyone that led to the incident.”
