500 dog breeds, 100 cat breeds to visit city soon

HYDERABAD: Petex India 2017, international expo of pets, to be held on November 11 and 12 in Hyderabad, is going to get bigger, with added attractions this year. The expo, which brings together pets and pet lovers from across the nation will showcase various breeds of pets, pet foods, pet accessories, besides organising several interesting pet shows and competitions.

“Mondio Ring dog sport, Meetup Zone for pets, Hycan Championship Dog Show, International Cat Show and others will be highlight at the pet expo. The expo will not just showcase more than 500 dog breeds and more than 100 cat breeds but will also feature true bred horses, rabbits, exotic birds, fish and other pets. The show will serve as an one stop destination for the pet lovers as it provides an opportunity to get connected and engaged as a community and explore the wide range of latest innovative products, services and trends in the pet care,” said Subhash Babu, President of The Hyderabad Canine Club announcing about Petex India 2017 in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Hitex and Hyderabad Canine Club are jointly organising Petex India, which is quite popular among pet lovers across India. Besides drawing pets and pet lovers from across nation, the expo will also have participants from abroad. The expo will have more than 200 stalls providing pet food, pet accessories and other related pet products.

“Top and rare dog breeds like Cane Corsa, Pointer, Dog Argentino, Bichon Frise, Mattese, Poodle and others will be showcased in the expo. We want to make Petex bigger and better as Indian pet care industry is growing fast and more and more people are coming forward to adopt pets. With more than six lakhs pets being adopted every year in India, the pet care industry is growing at rate 15 to 20 percent and is pegged at Rs 6,000 crore size. We want to make Hyderabad globally synonymous with pet care by promoting Petex passionately,” said Philip Butt, Honorary Secretary of Hyderabad Canine Club.

While about 25000 to 30,000 people took part in Petex India 2016, this year the organisers are expecting about 50,000 visitors. Some of the top brands that are associated with Petex include Pedigree, Drools, Venkeys Pet, Royal Canine and others. Kiran Chitnis, Memorial Cash Award instituted for Petex India 2017:Jaya Chitnis in memory of her husband has instituted Kiran Chitnis award of Rs 10,000 for the dog that scores the highest cumulative points in all the competitions and shows to be held at Petex.

Concurrent events:
As part of Petex 2017, several concurrent events like HyCan’17, India’s premier dog show, CFAI International Cat Show by Cat Fanciers Association of India and others will be held.
