Traffic issues near L.B. Nagar Crossroads may come to a stop within six months, as the work related to Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) has gathered pace and is expected to be finished by March next.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, through a statement, informed that the work pertaining to placement of girders had begun at the junction which experiences heavy traffic every day, worsened by the ongoing works.

Each girder to be placed on the flyover measures up to 30 meters in length, and weighs 50 tonnes. Manufactured in Pillaipalli village of Nalgonda district, they are being transported to the site by 50-metre trolleys during night hours, the statement said.

The flyover which is being constructed near Kamineni Hospitals will require 44 such girders on both sides of the road. Completion of the project, with 940-meter flyovers on each side, will ease traffic by 85%, as per the information from the GHMC.

As of now, it is estimated that 10,325 vehicles travel on this road per hour.
