The members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Omega Chapter’s Environmental Ownership, one of the sorority’s International Program Targets, committee, recently supported Childhood Hunger Impact Day in collaboration with the Advocates Against Hunger. The chapter purchased fresh produce that in included: onions, eggplants, peppers, tomatoes and apples. Recipes were included in the packages to assist families with creating health meals with the ingredients. The produce was packaged at the Cecil and Grace Soup Kitchen located in Norristown. The 100 + packages were delivered to the Willow School, Calvary Baptist Children’s Learning Center and Action Communal Latino American de Montgomery County (ACLAMO) preschool.
Alpha Kappa Alpha (ΑΚΑ) is the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African-American college women. The sorority was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Locally, since 1998, the Phi Beta Omega chapter has served Bucks and Montgomery counties on behalf of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The commitment has fostered relationships and partnerships with many other organizations and businesses in the communities we serve. Since our chartering we have provided over $100,000 in scholarships; as well as significant services and programs fulfilling our motto of, Service to all Mankind.
