Uttarakhand government took part in the 6th edition of the CII Invest North 2017. The event was held in Mumbai. The event connected businesses across sectors with India’s Northern states. Prakash Pant, the Finance Minister of Uttarakhand stated that the stable local political environment facilitates businesses and is one of its key merits. Emphasizing on the geographical location of the state, Prakash Pant said that the state sharing borders with several Northern states also works to its advantage.
Talking on various sectors, the Finance Minister said the government will be connecting with the industrialists to endorse health services in Uttarakhand. Options to promote medical tourism is also being thought about and the state has already started working on telemedicine and tele-radiology services.
Describing the finer points on the efforts towards EODB, the Principal Secretary of Industries, Uttarakhand stated, “Uttarakhand has made commendable progress in the last two years on the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ index. We jumped from rank 23rd to 9th and are 1st among the hill states. We have formulated over 340 action reform points which include online systems, labour reforms, facilitating clearances, setting time frames and providing single window clearances to MSMEs and large industries.”
She added by saying that, “The state government is keen to provide time-bound approvals to investors and thus, creating a favourable investor ecosystem. We also have 79% literacy rate, an increasing skilled workforce and a portal to comply with investors’ requirements.”
