PUNE: As many as 68 junior colleges have admitted less than 20 students for FYJC (standard XI) and will be on a two-year notice period to improve the show, the deputy director of education has notified.
The notification stated that the divisions in the colleges failing to improve their first year junior college (FYJC) admissions within two years will be shut down.
On Tuesday, the centralised admission process (CAP) declared the final figures of FYJC admissions this season and it was found that 68 colleges had less than 20 students taking admission to standard XI.
Assistant deputy director of education Minakshi Raut said the rule would be applicable only in case of the government-aided colleges. "This year, they will be allowed to run with the current strength. The colleges will get the last chance the next year to improve admissions. If they still fail to admit more than 20 students, then the respective divisions will get shut-down notice," she told TOI. "We will allocate additional staffers to the 68 junior colleges where there is shortage of teachers," Raut added.
The centralised admission process has found that 160 junior colleges have filled up 100% seats. The admissions were conducted for four regular rounds up to September 25, followed by five special rounds.
The CAP committee has invited suggestions from stakeholders to implement and improve the admission process for the next year. The suggestions could be sent on 11thonlineadmissiondydpune@gmail.com.
