Capsicum police station at Cubbon Park flower show for Children's day

BENGALURU: A lotus temple made up of nearly 1 lakh flowers such as roses, lilies, orchids, dera will be built on the occasion of children’s day at Cubbon Park. A special flower show has been organized at the park from November 11 to November 14.The temple will be one of the key attractions of the flower show which will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister. The temple will be 10 feet high and will be located at the Cubbon Park bandstand. A total of five to six lakhs flowers will be used for the flower show.

Another major attraction will be a police station made out of capsicum that aims to raise awareness among children about the police. Thousands of capsicums are set to be used for the installation as well.
The horticulture department has also planned to train people in low-cost terrace gardening, growing vegetables using hydroponics method under the theme “Urban horticulture”. These methods will be demonstrated to people who come to the flower show.

“This is going to be one incredible flower show on children’s day,” says M Jagadish, Deputy Director of Horticulture Department, Lalbagh. This is the first time Cubbon Park is hosting flower show of this scale.  The department hopes many people will turn out for the show.
There will be a display of Disney characters. Some of the wonders of the world such as Taj Mahal and Pyramids in their floral incarnations will be showcased.

Many activities for children have been organised. Nearly `32 lakh has been spent on the flower show, says  Mahntesh Murugoudu, Deputy Director of Horticulture Department. The Department of Women and Child Development has also chipped in for the show.“We will be covering most of the Cubbon Park area including that of lawn tennis court, library,” he adds.
