Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami declared open the full-fledged office of the Salem rural district unit of the All India Anna Dravida Anna Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) at Omalur near here on Wednesday.
Incidentally, Mr. Palaniswami is the secretary of the Salem rural district unit of the ruling AIADMK.
The new office has come up the Salem – Bengaluru national highway on the outskirts of Omalur town.
Mr. Palaniswami later held discussions separately with the elected representatives and with the union level office-bearers.
The Chief Minister also received petitions from the partymen and general public.
Earlier, Mr. Palaniswami felicitated the school students who undertook vigorous dengue awareness campaign.
The Salem district unit of the AIADMK, in connection with the MGR centenary celebrations, had organised district level oratorical and essay writing competitions and sports meet for the school students.
The Chief Minister felicitated the students of the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kondalampatti; Vidya Mandir HSS, Kondalampatti; Government Girls HSS, Guhai; Kamaraj Colony Government HSS, Ammapettai; Government HSS, Ammapettai; Government HSS, Paavadi, who excelled at the above competitions.
Mr. Palaniswami also felicitated the winners of the competitions for the women self-help groups and those who donated blood at a voluntary blood donation camp organised by the party on the eve of the MGR centenary.
