On the eve of BJP’s Parivarthana Yatra, N.S. Vinay, convener of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade and former aide of K.S. Eshwarappa, sought police protection from N.R. Santosh, personal assistant of BJP State President B.S. Yeddyurappa.
Santosh is the prime accused in the attempt to kidnap Vinay from Mahalakshni Layout on May 11.
The police have arrested 11 persons so far in this connection, but Santosh managed to obtain anticipatory bail.
In his complaint to the Amruthalli police, Mr. Vinay said he had information from “credible sources” that Santosh held a meeting recently to eliminate him.
Santosh has also approached the court seeking permission to move out of the city, to avoid suspicion in case of any eventuality, he alleged.
Following the complaint, the jurisdictional police have been instructed to intensify patrolling round the clock around Vinay’s residence in Kempapura near Hebbal. No personal security has been assigned to him.
