BUNDI: The three day Bundi Utsav, aiming at promoting tourism industry in Hadouti region, is set to kick off from November 6 with the district administration along with Rajasthan Tourist Development Corporation (RTDC) gearing up preparation for the event to woo the maximum number of foreign as well as domestic tourists. The three day festival is scheduled to showcase various cultural activities reflecting the rich folk art and tradition of the region.
The three day Bundi Utsav will kick off with Ganesh Puja at Bundi Garh Palace in the morning followed by flag hoisting and by a chain of events later in the day on first day of the event on November 6. Various events including grand procession through the main markets of the city, rope pulling, mustaches competition, turban tying, fancy dress competition, horse and camel race etc. would be organized at district headquarter on the first day, told Shivangi Swarnkar, Bundi district collector. Deepdaan would be performed on the same day in the evening at Banganga followed by 'Best of India', a cultural programme at 84 pillar cenotaph. Three day painting exhibition would also be put up from the same day in Bundi Art Gallery while the first day's festivity would be concluded with lighting of fireworks and crackers at the same 84 pillar cenotaph.
The second day of the festival on Nov. 7 would open up at 12 at noon with 'Sur Sangam', a musical event in Sukh Mehal, followed by Maan Manuhaar ( hospitality of the foreign tourists with Rajasthani food), the collector said adding Shilp Gram and Handicraft Fair would be would kick off on the same day in boys senior secondary school ground. The handicraft Fair and Shilp Gram would continue till November 15. Around 100 shops of handicraft items and the items produced and manufactured in cottage industries run by Self Helping Groups of women would be set up in the Shilp gram and handicraft fair. Deep Daan at Jait Sagar Lake followed by lighting of fireworks and crackers at 84 pillar cenotaph would be other attractions for the tourists on the second day.
On the concluding day of the festival on November 8, foreign tourists would be taken to village tour to pottery village Thikerda. The three day festival would conclude in the evening with a cultural programme in Shilp Gram and handicraft fair ground.
Likewise, various cultural events and programs throughout the three days of the event would be held at divisional headquarters Indergarh, Lakheri, Hindoli and Keshoraipatan of the district.
The district collector Shivangi Swarnkar appealed the people and the foreign tourists for the maximum participation in the events of the festival to make it success.
Large numbers of tourists are likely to move to Bundi Utsav from Pushkar fair in Ajmer. The publicity of Bundi Utsav was also done at Pushkar Fair, assistant tourist officer Prem Shankar told adding adequate arrangement for tourists participating in the festival have been made.
