Ludhiana: IT raids residence of municipal corporation officials, probes disproportionate assets

Their residence was raided in connection with amassing of illegal wealth and disproportionate assets compared to their income.

The Income Tax Department raided at least 30 premises in Ludhiana Wednesday including the residence of  Ludhiana Municipal Corporation officials (two brothers). The raids were conducted in connection with amassed illegal wealth and disproportionate assets compared to their income. A source from the department told The Indian Express that the residence of the Bindra brothers was raided at H-block of BRS Nagar on Ferozepur road.

Both the brothers — HS Bindra (property tax department inspector) and SS Bindra (assistant town planner) — are employed in Ludhiana Municipal Corporation.

Another team raided the Ludhiana and Jagraon premises of SEO Bridal Studio, a chain of bridal wear and accessories showrooms. Raids were also on at Roop Sqaure, a bridal wear showroom chain. The raids were conducted on the direction of Parneet Sachdev, principal director (investigations), Income Tax department, Punjab and J&K. The raids were conducted till late Wednesday night, sources added.
