NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was outperforming benchmark Sensex in Thursday's trade.

The S&P BSE Smallcap index was trading 33 points up at 17,730 around 12:50 pm (IST), while the BSE Sensex was trading flat at 33,599. The Nifty50 index was 8 points down at 10,432.

Shares of Power Mech Projects (up 19.99 per cent), Infibeam Incorporation (up 15.91 per cent), Hexaware Technologies (up 13.15 per cent) and Forbes & Company (up 11.31 per cent) surged over 10 per cent in the smallcap index.

However, smallcap stocks such as Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances (down 6.30 per cent), Mercator (down 5.26 per cent), Allsec Technologies (down 5.17 per cent), Trigyn Technologies (down 5.04 per cent), Blue Star (down 5.02 per cent) and Ricoh India (down 5 per cent) declined over 5 per cent.

The BSE Midcap index was also trading up in Thursday's trade. It was trading 74 points up at 16,721 around 12.50 pm (IST).

Shares of Divi's Laboratories, Shriram Transport Finance Company, Biocon, Natco Pharma, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Wockhardt, Ajanta Pharma and IDBI Bank were among the top gainers in the BSE Midcap index.

Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy's, Lupin, Coal India, Cipla and Power Grid Corporation were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.
