The City Police Commissioner, the Circle Inspector and the Sub-Inspector attached to the Nadakkavu police station have begun inquiries into the alleged beating up of a 16-year-old boy outside a women’s hostel by a police officer.

Meanwhile, the Kerala State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) has asked the officer to be present before it for questioning.

Statement recorded

The Nadakkavu CI recorded the statement of the youth after a case was registered against the officer, based on the direction of the IV Judicial Magistrate Court, Kozhikode. The incident happened a couple of days ago when A. Habeebulla, Sub-Inspector attached to the Medical College Police Station, went to a women’s hostel at Eranhippalam to give a set of new dress to his fiancée. The youth and others reportedly questioned the timing of the visit and he was beaten up, it is alleged.

Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, City Police Commissioner, is holding an inquiry based on the instruction of KSHRC acting chairperson P. Mohanadas.
