Market Now: BSE Auto index in the red; Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki firm

NEW DELHI: Shares of Tata Motors (up 1.68 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.15 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.10 per cent) were trading up in afternoon trade on Wednesday, after they declared today the sales figure for the month of October.
While Tata Motors reported a 5 per cent increase in total sales at 48,886 units in October, Mahindra and Mahindra reported a 1.65 per cent decline in total sales at 51,149 units.
Maruti Suzuki India reported a 9.5 per cent increase in total sales at 1,46,446 units in October.
The S&P BSE Auto index was trading 0.12 per cent down at 25,384 around 02:40 pm (IST).
Eicher Motors (down 3.99 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 3.28 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 1.76 per cent), Cummins India (down 0.98 per cent), MRF (down 0.42 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 0.12 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (down 0.05 per cent) were among the losers in the BSE Auto index around that time.
Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC, Axis Bank and Tata Motors were among the top gainers in the BSE Sensex index.
