Steel Minister to flag off first consignment of coastal shipping

Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh will flag off the first consignment of coastal shipping by the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) at Jetty No. 5 of the Visakhapatnam Port on Wednesday.

The project will be executed by a private consortium to haul 2.25 lakh tonne of VSP products to Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Mumbai. RINL is foraying into sea trade for the first time under the Sagarmala project initiated by the Centre.

Among others, Saraswati Prasad, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ruchika Chaudhry Govil, Joint Secretary, and Neeraj Agrawal, Director, Ministry of Steel, will accompany Mr. Singh.

The Minister is scheduled to inaugurate a badminton coaching camp and felicitate Vizag Steel’s Brand Ambassador P.V. Sindhu at Ukkunagaram.

Later, he will review the performance of RINL and hold discussions with CMD P. Madhusudan.

Turbo Blower

Mr. Singh will commission the newly built Turbo Blower-5 on thermal power plant premises. This is a standby turbo blower to ensure uninterrupted supply of cold blast to Blast Furnace-3.
