The police detained over 50 members of Kannada Kasturi Janapara Vedike, a pro Kannada organisation, on Wednesday after they tried to blacken sign boards and tore banners at Brigade Road Junction here.

The protestors alleged that despite government rule stipulating 70% of all signages to be in Kannada, it had not been implemented.

They raised slogans and tried to paint over the signboards of shops on Brigade Road with black paint. However, the police quickly rounded them up and they were whisked away amidst high drama.
