HYDERABAD: The state government has constituted a group of ministers to find out an amicable solution, under provisions of the TS Assigned Lands (POT) Act, 1977, to the difficulties being faced in acquisition of assigned lands. The GoM will be headed by deputy chief minister (revenue) Md Mahamood Ali and consist of deputy chief minister (education) Kadiyam Srihari, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, T Harish Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, KT Rama Rao, A Indrakaran Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, C Laxma Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao. The special chief secretary (revenue) will be it convener.

The group shall prepare a policy framework and submit its report to the government immediately. It will examine and submit report on the following difficulties being faced in acquisition of assigned lands, which allegedly violated provisions of the TS Assigned Lands (POT) Act, 1977.

Those who purchased assigned lands in violation of POT Act are claiming compensation for their lands being acquired. If they are not paid, they are obstructing the developmental works. Meanwhile, M Sharada Bai, deputy secretary in the energy department, was appointed as chief vigilance officer in the same department on Tuesday.
