Guntur SP vows stern action against rowdy-sheeters

GUNTUR: Rowdy-sheeters taking revenge in full public glare have put the Guntur police on their toes. The recent murder of rowdy-sheeter Basavala Vasu highlights the ‘devil may care’ attitude of rowdy-sheeters.In the wake of recent murders, Guntur Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao instructed the police officials to prepare a list of rowdy-sheeters and submit the same to him.

The police officials were told to classify the anti-social elements under ‘A+, A and B categories depending on the nature of their operations and the type of offences they were involved in. The list would be submitted to the District Collector for necessary action, the SP said. n place in the past 10 months in the city due to old rivalries and fight for supremacy. As per available information, there are 350 rowdy-sheeters in the city limits and 92 rowdy-sheeters in the Arundelpet police station limits.After assuming charge, SP Vijaya Rao conducted counselling to rowdy-sheeters in the Guntur urban police limits.

After the gruesome murder of rowdy-sheeter Vasu, the SP immediately reviewed the law and order situation in the city limits and surrounding areas. He instructed the officials to take stern action against the rowdy-sheeters and warned that lenient officials would be taken to task. It may be mentioned here that six assailants mercilessly murdered rowdy-sheeter Vasu in front of a restaurant at Arundelpet on October 29 creating panic among denizens.

Boppana Ravi was murdered at Arundelpet, and Pallapu Gopi at Budampadu 
Anjaneyulu was killed at Chakalikunta on Yetukuru Road in June 2017
M Srinivasa Reddy was hacked to death at Tenali on October 22, 2017
Matangi Kanna of Narasaraopet was brutally murdered on October 24, 2017

CC cameras installed
The Guntur Urban police have set up a command control room and installed CC cameras at shopping malls, apartments and at every major junction, to rein in crime rate in the city.
