In a time of social media boom, not posting enough pictures on social media can be a cause of distress for celebrities. Amruta Khanvilkar and Himanshu Malhotra, who got married after dating for more than a decade, are the latest victims of not being too active on social media. With no mushy caption, no PDA or not even clicks together, many raised eyebrows whether all was indeed well in their love nest. We caught up with Amruta on the sidelines of Dance India Dance 6 launch, the show that she will be hosting and asked her about the rumours surrounding her married life.

“We have been dating from 2004 and are done with all the mushiness. I keep joking with him that we have actually grown old now. But honestly, I think we have crossed the stage where we find the need to show our affection on social media. Also, we come from a generation where technology did not play an important part in building relationships, so I am not even used to it. As a couple we mutually decided to stay away from it and rather than spending time on internet, we be with each other. And if I need to tell Himanshu anything, I would rather whisper it in his ears than on social media, he is after all just beside me,” shared the actor in an exclusive conversation with indianexpress.com.

“We have seen the most difficult times and were there to back each other. We have struggled, seen career highs and lows and know we will be there for each other forever. We have together build our relationship strong. Himanshu is my biggest investment and I can’t let him go (laughs). He is my best friend and I feel lucky to be married to him. We want to grow old together, and even when we won’t have fame, success, fans, we know we will still be sticking to each other. I know I am in a secure relationship with him,” she added with a smile.

Moving towards the big screens, Amruta is all set to star in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi along with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. When asked how the experience turned out to be, she said, “Oh it has turned out to be really amazing. I think Raazi and DID has been the icing in the cake for this year. Every year after my marriage, I have only found better projects. As people say that ‘shaadi rang laati hai’, I have truly found the best post my wedding. Himanshu is an extremely positive person and that has made my life all the more happy. He is my strength and indeed the pillar of our relationship.”

Talking about hosting the dance show, the Marathi mulgi quipped, “I am really very passionate about dance and I feel really lucky to be a part of this iconic show. I have started my career with Zee TV through India’s Best Cinestar Ki Khoj and it was like a homecoming for me. And the best part is that I will also get to dance a lot, which I am really excited about.”

When asked if reality shows actually help build careers, Amruta said, “It does if you get to showcase your talent. There are few shows, which I don’t want to name where it’s all about drama. I have been part of reality shows and even won one (Nach Baliye), and I feel if you can utilise the stage and opportunity, nothing like it. They can definitely give your career a great boost.”

Lastly, when asked what is keeping her away from fiction television, the actor smiled to say, “Nothing yaar. No one has approached me with a good offer. I am someone who doesn’t say no to opportunities, and thus would be happy to do something interesting on television.”
