BENGALURU: A quality check conducted by the Department of Public Instructions, with the assistance of Centre for  Silk Technology and Research, has revealed that free uniforms provided by the state to children studying in government-run schools is of poor quality.

Most complaints are from Mysuru and Belagavi regions. Even the Handloom Development Corporation, which comes under the state government, provided the uniforms. “The Handloom Corporation will be penalised `20 lakh. We are recalling them to provide new set of uniforms,” said an official of DPI.
