Becomes one of only three in Michigan to earn "A" rating since the inception of the grading system
DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital received an “A” rating in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2017 Safety Score, demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care. Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital is now one of only three Michigan hospitals to receive an "A" rating for every reporting period since the inception of the grading system in 2012, and the only hospital in Southeast Michigan to achieve this.
"We are proud of this accomplishment because it is a reflection of our continued focus on patient safety," said Karima Bentounsi, President and CEO of Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. "Six straight years of "A" ratings is a tribute to the relentless efforts of all of our staff, most notably our many dedicated nurses and physicians, in making sure we have processes in place that will allow us to continue to earn "A" ratings in the future as well."
The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Score is a rating system designed to give consumers information they can use to make healthcare decisions for themselves or a loved one. The Leapfrog Group assigns A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice a year based on their ability to prevent errors, injuries, accidents and infections. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
"This is an impressive achievement by the Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital team," said Anthony Tedeschi, M.D., DMC CEO. "Excellence in patient safety, particularly at such a high level and over such a long period of time, is a reflection of the staff's consistent and unrelenting focus on keeping patients safe."
