Jharkhand mining show ends, three more MoUs inked

The three-day Mining Show (JMS) 2017 - Mining and Minerals Summit - ended here on Wednesday with the state signing three more MoUs.

"The signed the MoUs with Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd (MECL) for undertaking mineral exploration to identify prospective mineral blocks, with Vedanta for setting up a steel plant in Jharkhand, and with Shree Cement for setting up a cement plant in Jharkhand," a state a press release said.

The summit was organised by the state and the Confederation of Indian Industry.

The memorandum of understanding with MECL will give mineral exploration in the state a significant boost, it said.

On the inaugural day of the summit, an MoU was signed between the and Coal India Ltd for waste water treatment and supply of water for drinking and irrigation to the people.

Also, the Adani Group had proposed to invest Rs 20,000 crore in the state over the next five years which will lead to creation of 10,000 jobs. Bharat Earth Movers Ltd is also looking to expand its operations in the state.

Urban Development Minister C.P. Singh said: "The state is on the fast track of development work. It will create forums like JMS and come up with more and more opportunities for businesses."
