When we think of the late 1980s and mid '90s, the one on-screen pair that literally ruled the silver screen was undoubtedly Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor. In their film careers spanning more than two decades, both these Bollywood superstars have worked together in close to 19 films — Beta, Ram Lakhan, Tezaab, Parinda, Kishen Kanhaiya and Pukar to name a few. After a long gap, both of them are speculated to star in another movie helmed by the Beta director, Indra Kumar.

According to a report by catchnews.com, Indra Kumar has approached Dixit to star in his upcoming venture Total Dhamaal, which is the third installment in the 'Dhamaal film franchise. Along with this, there is buzz that Anil Kapoor might also feature in the film, as the lead actor, romantically paired opposite Dixit.

Dhamaal is a successful comedy franchise which comprises the 2007 film Dhamaal, starring Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaffrey and Aashish Chaudhary;  and the 2011 sequel Double Dhamaal which also featured Kangana Ranaut and Mallika Sherawat along with the original male cast.

During the '90s, Dixit's unfathomable superstardom had a huge contribution from Indra Kumar as the former's three massive blockbusters — Dil, Beta and Raja — were helmed by Kumar. If Total Dhamaal with the above-mentioned starcast actually comes to fruition, it will be Dixit's first film after the 2014 social drama Gulaab Gang.

Dixit and Kapoor were last seen in the 2001 Rajkumar Santoshi-directed social drama Lajja.
