JEYPORE: The BJP-led NDA Government has hijacked development policies of the Congress to gain political mileage, alleged Leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra.Addressing a public gathering at Borigumma on the occasion of 33rd death anniversary of Indira Gandhi, Mishra said the ongoing development works of the BJP Government were the brainchild of the Congress party. He added that both the State and the Central governments are shedding crocodile tears on the plight of the people and the negligence is evident in KBK region, which has not tasted fruits of development yet. Tribals are victims of State Government’s negligence, he further said.

Mishra said the Congress is the only party that can give a stable and welfare-oriented government both at the State and at the Centre.Speaking on the occasion, former minister Niranjan Patnaik criticised the State Government for lack of development and said people will teach the BJD a lesson in the 2019 elections. He added that the current liquor policy of the State Government will ruin tribal livelihood in the KBK region and demanded that the Government should ban liquor business entirely in the State.

Earlier in the day, hundreds of Congress activists took out a rally in Borrigumma and later staged demonstration in front of Government liquor factory demanding its closure.Among others, Congress leaders Taraprasad Bahinipati, Ganeswar Behera and Minakhi Bahinipati were present. The leaders arrived at Borrigumma and garlanded the statue of Indira Gandhi and vowed for national integrity. Several institutions and organisations observed the National Integration Day in Jeypore, Koraput and Sunabeda.
