Capital region farmers visit Bishan Park in Singapore

The farmers from the capital region visited Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, one of the largest urban parks in central Singapore, on their second day’s visit on Tuesday.

An official release said Bishan Park is a naturalised canal, which has been deconcretised into a 3-km river with lots of flora and fauna.

Noted destination

With the development of this park, the river has now become a habitat for a variety of fish, butterflies, and so on.

It is considered a popular choice for cycling with dedicated tracks, jogging, and for family outings.

Later, the farmers walked through the Central market and food centre at Ang Mo Kio Market led by officials of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore and Centre for Livable Cities.

The farmers then drove through Serangoon Garden and Kovan area, which is mostly private residential areas with low and medium rise condominiums.

Serangoon Garden is a mix of residential and commercial activities built in the 1950s.

CRDA Director (lands) B.L. Chennakesava Rao and consultant Divya Reddy accompanied the farmers on their visit.
