NAVI MUMBAI: The police are yet to make a headway in tracing the six-member gang that robbed a trader from his Vashi apartment nearly 72 hours ago. The gang had reportedly made off with cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.09 crore.
The police have claimed the accused have been cautious due to reports about the arrest of Anita Mhasane, 45, who is a suspect as she had a monetary dispute with the trader's wife. A police source claimed the robbers, including a woman, have switched off their mobile phones and are possibly contacting each other via WhatsApp using a WiFi connection as to ensure that their location is untraceable.
Anita is the wife of a constable attached to Khandeshwar police station. "My wife and the trader's wife were friends for 10 years but there is a monetary dispute between them. I won't blame the police as her arrest is part of the investigation," Mukunda Mhasane said.
