KANPURA: man allegedly poured acid on his wife's private parts after she refused to have sex with him on Monday night.The incident took place at Behrin village of Kanauj.Annu Devi Pal, has been admitted at the district hospital in a serious condition.
SP Kannauj Harishchander said a case has been registered against the accused and two others. No arrests have been made. The woman's parents lodged a complaint.
According to police, Annu alleged that her husband Ved Ram was forcing her for sex. When she refused, he assaulted her and threw acid on her genitals, which led to severe burn injuries.
A native of Sakrawa Road, Annu was married to Ved Ram village in 2011.
The couple was staying with their two children and in-laws. Her father told police that the accused started harassing her from 2012.
"One Monday night, her husband demanded sex from his wife. When she refused, Ved Ram started beating her. He locked her inside a room and raped her. The accused then poured acid on her genitals and escaped," Kotwali inspector Amar Pal Singh said.
