Jewar, Dankaur & Dadri to go to polls

GREATER NOIDA: The district administration on Tuesday said the filing of nominations for municipal elections will start from November 1.

District magistrate B N Singh held a meeting with officials of police, administration and discussed the arrangements to conduct peaceful elections, scheduled on November 26. Drone cameras will also be used to ensure smooth and transparent elections.

The nomination process will be held at all the tehsils - Jewar, Dadri and Dankaur - till November 7.

The candidates can withdraw their nominations by November 10. Elections will be held on November 26 from 7.30am to 5pm and counting of votes will be held on December 1.

The officials of district administration also held a meeting with representatives of different political parties and sensitized them to follow the model code of conduct.

Love Kumar, SSP, Noida said the administration has enforced Section 144 in the district from October 30. "We are making all preparations to ensure fair elections," he said.

The excise department has been sensitized to conduct enforcement drive and check illegal transportation of liquor in the neighbourhood.


The district magistrate and SSP also inspected the polling stations in Dankaur and Vilaspur in the evening.


In Gautam Budh Nagar, elections to Nagar Palika Parishad will be held in Dadri while the elections to Nagar Panchayat will be held in Dankaur, Rabupura, Bilaspur, Jewar, and Jahangirpur.


These elections are not held in Noida and parts of Greater Noida, which are governed by respective Authorities. The UP Industrial Act 1976 states there is no need of holding panchayat elections in such industrial towns.
