Coimbatore: Jewellery worth Rs 63,000 were lost in two chain snatching cases reported in the city on Tuesday.
The first case was reported in Race Course police station at 9pm. The complainant, Deepa Santhosh, a resident of 3rd Stree, Tatabad was on the way to the temple near Maharashtra Co-operative about 7.20pm when two men on a motorcycle snatched her gold chain weighing 1.5 sovereigns, police sources said. Race Course police have registered a case. The worth of the stolen jewellery is estimated to be Rs 13,000.
In the second incident, Alamelu M, a 68-year-old woman from Trident Sebenity Apartment in Nanjundapuram, reported snatching of a gold chain weighing five sovereigns and another chain weighing one sovereign. Alamelu and her husband Muthu were returning home from the railway station on their two-wheeler around 5.30pm when two men on a motorcycle snatched the chains. TNN
