VARANASI: The local police and crime branch personnel caught a member of an interstate gang of drug peddlers in Sarnath area and recovered 104.7 kg ganja in 10 packets on Tuesday night. Three other members of the gang managed to flee.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off, the police conducted raid in Ledhupur locality in Sarnath area. During the raid one person was caught while three others managed to escape. The arrested person was identified as Rajesh Singh, resident of Khanpur area of Ghazipur district. The absconding persons were Vijay Yadav, Hitler and Saroj Rajbhar, all natives of Azamgarh district.
During interrogation the arrested person confided that the absconding Vijay Yadav is the kingpin of the gang involved in smuggling ganja from West Bengal and Odisha and supplying in Varanasi, Azamgarh, GHazipur and other districts. A manhunt was launched to nab the absconding persons.
