RANCHI: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday appealed to the members of Coimbatore-based Isha Foundation to help the state government in the conservation of rivers.

Das also instructed senior government officials to make arrangements to sign an MoU on river conservation in the state with the foundation.

Das urged the organisation to share its technical expertise for the conservation of rivers in the state during a meeting with the foundation's members at the chief minister's office in Dhurwa. The CM sought help of the foundation in removing blockages and maintaining the flow of the Subarnarekha river. "We have drawn up plans to plant various fruit-bearing trees along the banks of rivers in Jharkhand," said Das.

The chief minister also assured that the state government will help the organisation in spreading awareness among the masses about the conservation of rivers.

The CM also met the officials of the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) and asked them to hire experts to expedite the industrialisation process in the state and provide better infrastructure and allied facilities to investors who wish to set up industries in Jharkhand.
