A man allegedly killed his wife over a domestic dispute and committed suicide at Loni Kalbhor on Tuesday night. An offence in this case has been lodged at the Loni Kalbhor police station. Police have identified the deceased as Kisan Rama Kamble (35) and his wife Suvarna Kisan Kamble (30), residents of Mali Mala in Loni Kalbhor, and native of Karmala in Solapur district.

According to police, Suvarna and Kisan got married a few years earlier and they had two daughters and a son. Kisan worked as a driver, while Suvarna was a domestic help. The couple argued frequently and had started living separately about seven years ago, said police.

Some days earlier, Kisan contacted Suvarna's mother Lakshmi Salve, and told her that he wanted to "live peacefully" with his wife, said police. Kisan reportedly assured Suvarna that he would take care of her, after which she agreed to live with him. The couple started living together at Loni Kalbhor, but soon started arguing again, said police.

On the day of the incident, Kisan, an alcoholic, attacked Suvarna with a wooden stick, said police. The impact was so severe that she died on the spot, said police, adding that after the attack, Kisan went to a nearby farm and hanged himself from a tree with a piece a cloth.

"The incident took place some time on Tuesday night. Kisan's children were sleeping when he killed their mother Suvarna. At 5.30 am, the children woke up and saw Suvarna lying in a pool of blood," said Assistant Police Inspector Shrikant Ingawale, who is investigating the case.
