A deputy commander of CPI (Maoist) surrenders with weapon

A deputy commander in the Communist Party of India (Maoist) Kondagorla Ravinder alias Vinod (25) surrendered to the police in the presence of Assistant Superintendent of Police Rahul Hegde here on Tuesday.

Kondagorla Ravinder, a resident of Bore Narsapur, Mangapet mandal who is working as deputy commander of Eturunagaram and Mahdevpur area committee, studied up to fifth class and worked in a printing press from 2009 to 2012.

In 2013 he went underground joining the Maoists and worked in Illandu-Narsamapet Area Committee from 2013 to 2015. In 2015-2016 he was on personal security detail of Apachi Narayana alias Ramesh, division committee member production team, (weapon team) and he was trained in the weapon team.

In 2016 he was transferred to Eturnagaram-Mahadevpur Area Committee and in July this year Vinod became area committee member. He was promoted as deputy commander of Mahdevpur-Eturnagaram Area Committee. He was carrying SLR weapon.

Mr. Ravinder was involved in burning of mini transport vehicles on the outskirts of Duddeda village in Chhattisgarh in 2014, burning the vehicles of road contractor at Tekulagdudem in 2015. He was involved in exchange of fire at Bottentang in 2016 and also in attack on CRPF personnel at Burkapad in 2017.

Mr. Hedge said Mr. Ravinder was disillusioned with the ideology of the Maoists and decided to join the mainstream. The ASP appealed to underground cadre to come out and join their families to lead a normal life. “The State government will provide suitable rehabilitation to all surrendered naxals,” he said. Eturunagaram CI D. Raghu Chander and SI Mangapet A.Mahender were present.
