BENGALURU: The Karnataka BJP is set to take out their Parivartan ratha yatra under the state party president, B S Yeddyurappa and travel over 6,000 kilometres in 75 days from Wednesday.
BJP president Amit Shah will inaugurate the yatra, in presence of several senior leaders of the state. Yeddyurappa will be travelling in a custom-made ratha (luxury bus with loudspeakers and semblance of horses pulling the bus) throughout the state and finally culminate the yatra at Bengaluru on January 25.
Scheduled to host three public rallies each day, the ratha Yatra is expected to highlight the achievements of Yeddyurappa as chief minister in 2008 and that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre.
"The yatra will seek the votes of the people by highlighting the failures and corruption of the Siddaramaiah government in the state and the achievements of the BJP leadership under Yeddyurappa in 2008 and that PM Modi at the Centre since 2014," said party general secretary and yatra in-charge Shobha Karandlaje.
While the yatra will see Yeddyurappa lead the charge, the party national leaders and more prominent personalities will join him after the Himachal Pradesh elections.
"Prominent leaders like UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Union minister Uma Bharti and Goa CM Manohar Parikar will join the yatra soon after the Himachal Pradesh elections. They have given us tentative dates in the month of December," said Karandlaje.
It is being said that the senior Union ministers have been given the task to join the yatra at least for two to three days during the 75 days of rally, campaigning for Yeddyurappa and the BJP.
"While the national leaders will arrive at their convenience, through the rally the local MPs, MLAs and party office bearers will accompany Yeddyurappa in the rally," said Karandlaje.
Meanwhile, BJP source said efforts are being made to lure PM Modi to participate in the yatra before presiding over the concluding function on January 28, 2018.
"There is an effort for bringing PM Modi to Hubbali when the yatra reaches the location to consolidate the north Karnataka votes in favour of the party," said party worker.
The yatra will be flagged off by Shah at the Bengaluru international exhibition centre (BIEC) on Tumakuru road by 11 am on Thursday. Following which, Yeddyurappa is scheduled to travel in the ratha towards Kunigal for the first public rally of the 225 public gatherings.
It is said, while Yeddyurappa will travel in the luxury bus all across the state and address people from the ratha, he will be staying in Mutts, government guest houses or circuit houses wherever he will halt.
