'Apon Ghar will allow govt staff to build their own home'

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said the state has taken up the 'Apon Ghar' scheme in partnership with the State of to ensure that all employees could build their own house.

The chief minister said this while taking part as chief guest in the celebration to mark the milestone of 1,000 beneficiaries of the loan scheme and Rs 1,000 crore disbursed in a programme held in the city today.


"All state employees must work with integrity and dedication. You must improve your skills to suit the requirements of modern day work culture and be motivated by a sense of social responsibility while discharging your duties," Sonowal urged the employees in the programme.

Recalling the contributions of Sardar Ballav Bhai Patel to strengthen unity in the nation, the chief minister urged the people to join hands with the Prime Minister Modi's call to make "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat".

Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the permanent state employees can now avail the benefits of the 'Apon Ghar' scheme after completing one year of service.

He also said the state would take up schemes for the unemployed too in collaboration with the SBI.
