PUNE: A 30-year-old woman from a housing society in Thergaon has lodged an FIR with the Wakad police regarding vulgar texts she has been receiving on her cellphone for a month.

Senior inspector Shridhar Jadhav on Monday said the woman received a call from an unknown number late one night around a month ago and the caller spoke to her in foul language. She disconnected the phone and never answered to calls from the number again.

Police said the suspect then started sending her lewd text messages, the FIR filed on Sunday stated. The woman, whose husband works with a software company in Pune, had asked the caller to stop sending her texts and would report it to the police if he continued to do so.

The suspect, however, continued to send vulgar messages to her, stating that she should be a "friend". On Sunday, the suspect again sent similar messages to her. Following this, she lodged the police complaint.

The police have registered an offence punishable under section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of IPC and launched a hunt for the suspect.
