Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said the state goverment is making efforts to boost facilities at prominent places of religious and tourism importance to tap tourism potential of the areas.
Singh said Jammu, also known as the city of temples, has been a major pilgrim tourist destination and requisite initiatives would be taken to enhance amenities for the pilgrims and make their stay comfortable.
"The government is making dedicated effort to boost the vast religious potential of the state," Singh said after inaugurating a sun-shade at existing path of the Bawe Wali Mata temple, constructed at a cost of Rs 28.50 lakhs by the Jammu Development Authority, here.
He said the government was taking requisite steps to improve the facilities at prominent places of religious and tourism importance and focus is being laid on optimally tapping the tourism potential of the areas.
The central and the state governments have taken initiatives to ensure equitable development of all the regions of the state with a prime focus on the welfare of the people with effective service delivery mechanism and good governance, Singh said.
The deputy chief minister asked the Jammu Development Authority to ensure time-bound completion of the ongoing development works for the betterment of the people.
He also called for regular monitoring of the projects to meet quality norms and timelines.
