NEW DELHI: Gains in shares of Axis Bank (up 4.82 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 0.94 per cent), IDFC Bank (up 0.90 per cent) and YES Bank (up 0.49 per cent) lifted the Nifty Private Bank index into the green zone.

The Nifty Private Bank index was trading 0.35 per cent up at 13,765 around 11 am (IST). Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 35 points down at 10,329, while the BSE Sensex was 83 points down at 33,183.

However, shares of Federal Bank (down 0.53 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 0.50 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 0.43 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 0.17 per cent) and South Indian Bank (down 0.16 per cent) were losing in the index around that time.

Besides Nifty Private Bank index, only Nifty Realty index was trading in the green.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 14 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of Axis Bank, HCL Tech, Power Grid, IndusInd Bank, Ambuja Cements and Hindustan Unilever were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

However, Bharti Infratel, HPCL, Hindalco Industries, State Bank of India, Coal India and Infosys were among the top losers.
