Ethnic or western, Deepika Padukone mostly woos fashion aficionados with her outfits — barring a few exceptions. However, it is her traditional style statement that has enthralled movie buffs lately, especially after her first look for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati was revealed. Recently, the actress stepped out for the 3D trailer launch of her movie, and stunned onlookers in a monochrome outfit.

Padukone wore a black backless ensemble from the house of fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the promotional gig. The gorgeous textured bodycon kurta with intricate beadwork detail was simply amazing, and the 31-year-old teamed it with an organza dupatta replete with heavy border and silver embellishments.

Her outfit not only spelled elegance, minimalism and tradition, it also brought back the ’60s nostalgia. Celebrity stylist Shaleena Nathani did a good job by pairing the kurta with crisp poplin churidaar leggings and we think the contrasting colours were enchanting. Another interesting element in her attire was the back-baring cut that added the glam quotient. Strappy stilettos from Christian Louboutin x Sabyasachi collection were perfect for the outfit.

We also like the statement earrings from Amrapali Jewels that were her only accessories. Nathani’s “less is more” formula seemed to have worked brilliantly as the outfit did not need any added bling.

Hairstylist Amit Thakur pulled the actress’ hair back into a tight bun. Minimal make-up and nude lips rounded off her look.
