New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet in the Vyapam scam against 490 of the accused people including three Vyapam officials and 170 guardians of the beneficiary candidates.
The CBI said in a statement that the chargesheet had been filed in the court of special judge for Vyapam cases, Bhopal in the on going investigation of a case relating to alleged irregularities in PMT 2013 Exam conducted by Vyapam.
“In the chargesheet, CBI also submitted its findings on the allegations of tampering of the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that had been seized by the MP Police. Based on the forensic reports and the other evidence gathered during investigation, CBI has concluded that there was no tampering in the HDD,” the CBI statement read.
The CBI, in its Vyapam scam chargesheet, also said that the forensic analysis of the hard disk drives seized from Nitin Mohindra, an official at Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, by the Madhya Pradesh Police has shown that no files having letters “CM” were stored in them.
The CBI findings are seen as a major relief for Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who will be facing assembly elections next year.
The chargesheet said that Pandey had also submitted two pen drives—to the Delhi high court and CBI—carrying excel sheets to buttress his claim that hard disk drives seized by Indore Police in 2013 were tampered to remove 48 instances of the “CM” from the records. The files carried in the pen drives were altered subsequently, the chargesheet said.
