No suicide note has been recovered

A 22-year-old B.Tech student allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room in Noida Sector 57 on Sunday night. No suicide note was recovered.

According to the police, Rupanshu Srivastav, a second-year student of Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Academy of Technical Education in Sector 62, was found hanging from the ceiling fan. He was a resident of Raebareli.

Door broken

“We received a call from the hostel in charge. A police team reached the spot and broke open the door to his room. His body was sent for post-mortem,” said Sector 58 police station Station House Officer Anil Pratap Singh.

Rupanshu’s friend Vipin said he did not appear for an exam on October 28. “His roommate left for home after the exam and he was alone in the room. He had dinner with us on October 28 and went back to the room and did not leave his room all day on Sunday. I wanted something from his room, so I knocked on the door but did not get any response. I peeped in from the window and saw him hanging,” he said.

No investigation

Rupanshu’s family was informed about his death by the police. His father Vijay Srivastav said, “He did not have many friends. He never shared anything with us. His death has come as a shock for us. He was home for Diwali and seemed happy but had not been speaking to us properly for the past two days. We do not know what drove him to commit suicide.”

The police said his family has refused investigation and taken his body home.
