Over 100 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs on Tuesday

NEW DELHI: As much as 112 stocks, including Bata India, Bharat Forge, Birla Corporation, Britannia Industries, Dabur India, Dalmia Bharat, Delta Corp, Emami, scorts, Oil India, Rain Industries, TVS Motor Company, Vakrangee and Voltas hit their fresh 52-week highs on NSE on Tuesday.

However, Astec LifeSciences, Balaxi Ventures, Hindustan Media Ventures, Neueon Towers and TV Vision were among those 13 stocks that hit fresh 52-week lows.

Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex traded lower on Tuesday, dragged by poor show of metal, auto and PSU bank stocks.

The Nifty50 index closed 28 points lower at 10,335, while BSE Sensex settled 53 points down at 33,213 on Tuesday.

In the Nifty50 index, UPL, Vedanta, GAIL (India), Tata Steel, Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Tata Motors and State Bank of India remained the top losers.

Among the gainers, Axis Bank surged up to 9 per cent. Bharti Infratel, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, HCL Technologies, Bharti Airtel, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Adani Ports also figured among the top gainers.

Among the sectoral indices, Nifty PSU Bank index cracked over 2 per cent, with Union Bank of India, IDBI Bank, Indian Bank and Punjab National Bank as the top laggards. Bank of India was the only component in the Nifty PSU Bank index that settled in the green on Tuesday.

Metal stocks also cracked. Nifty Metal index declined nearly 2 per cent, with SAIL, MOIL and Vedanta as the top drags.

Nifty Realty index, however, gained over 3 per cent. Top gainer of the index, DLF, surged over 7 per cent.

17 stocks settled in the green, while 32 stocks in the red in the Nifty50 index on Tuesday.
