Surat: A murder complaint was registered at Khatodara police station on Monday almost 14 months after a body was found. The complaint was registered on the basis of a report from doctors at New Civil Hospital who had carried out forensic and post mortem examinations on the body of an unidentified 40-year-old man to determine his cause of death.
The body was found from near Avadh Arena on VIP Road in Vesu on July 24, 2016. No one has contacted police so far to report about any missing person. Police are checking with their counterparts in other areas to find out if any complaint of missing person has been registered with them during the period.
"The complaint was registered now as details about cause of the man's death were received recently. Medical examination found that the man had died due to an injury in neck. He had suffered a fracture and other injury which caused his death," the police said.
Police have started investigations to ascertain the identity of the deceased. "It is difficult to find out who the deceased was. His identity can help the police to take the investigations in the case further," the police added.
