ANGUL:  Purified cold drinking water facilities have been provided at all 40 health centres across the district with installation of water coolers by the administration. Angul became the first district in the State to launch such facilities at all the health centres. The project, carried out by Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) department, cost `2.32 crore which was funded from the District Mineral Fund (DMF). Angul Collector Anil Kumar Samal said, “All the patients and their attendants will get round-the-clock purified cold drinking water at the hospitals and it will be great relief to them during summer.”

RWSS Executive Engineer Bikash Das said the department is entrusted with the maintenance of facilities for a period of one year and later, it will be taken over by the hospitals concerned. Welcoming the administration’s move, a patient, Sikhara Dehuri, said, “Earlier, we were carrying drinking water with us, but now the facility will help us in a great way. The scarcity of potable water not only affects the day-to-day operations but also puts hundreds of patients in a difficult situation.”
