Rahul Gandhi to attend public meeting in Mahbubabad on November nine

HYDERABAD: Congress, which appears to be in an upbeat mood about the impending migration of TDP leaders led by A Revanth Reddy to it, has announced that it is going to step up its attacks on the government to defeat the ruling TRS in the next general election by organising various agitations on people’s issues. To set the tone, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting at Mahabubabad on November 9. 

AICC state affairs incharge RC Khuntia, who came here on Sunday to formally announce Revanth’s entry into the Congress, announced that Rahul would address a public meeting at Mahabubabad on November 9. The meeting, Girijana Garjana, is aimed at wooing the STs back to Congress fold.

“Revanth’s joining is just the beginning. Many more leaders of other parties will join the Congress in the coming days. Some key leaders of other parties, including the ruling TRS, are ready to join our party. None can stop the Congress from returning to power in the next Assembly elections,” Khuntia asserted while interacting with mediapersons here.The AICC leader made it clear that the Congress had not promised any post to the Kodangal MLA. “The Congress will never induct a leader into it by promising any key post. Posts will be allotted to leaders based on their performance in the party,” he said.
Khuntia described Revanth Reddy as a dynamic leader and said that his entry into the Congress would strengthen the party further. 

“There is no one within the Congress who opposes Revanth’s joining the party,” he claimed.
Following AICC high command’s decision to induct Revanth into the party, all senior leaders of the party who had earlier opposed the Kodangal MLA’s crossover to the party, have now begun welcoming him. For instance, former minister and Gadwal MLA DK Aruna, who had earlier objected to Revanth’s entry into the Congress, on Sunday welcomed him into the party fold. “We will also embrace irrigation minister T Harish Rao who he is ready to join our party. All those who are opposing CM’s policies should join hands with the Congress,” she said.
