GURUGRAM: With no imminent weather disturbance approaching and brisk upper air wind movement, the city is likely to see pleasant weather in the next week. Chances of rain remain low as the meteriology department officials say minimum temperatures may plunge a few degrees further.
Officials at Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), New Delhi told TOI that Gurgaon is likely to witness an improved wind movement with day-time temperatures turning more pleasant.
"This is the season when we will start witnessing a gradual fall in temperatures," said an RMC official. "There is an upper air wind movement of north-westerly winds. Also, on the surface of Earth, there is a movement of easterly winds. This is the reason that we have been seeing fall in temperatures."
Officials also said there was no immediate build-up of western disturbance towards Delhi and NCR. "The ones that we see are going to affect areas of J&K. As such there is no weather system that we can say will affect in Punjab, Haryana or western UP. Whenever such things happen, we will see a drastic dip in temperatures, and that will fully herald the arrival of winters."
Temperature in the city has fallen over the last week. The maximum temperature last week reached 36°C, while the minimum hovered around 21°C.
Following this the maximum temperature on Sunday was 31 degrees Celsius while the minimum stood at 18.
Officials said minimum temperature over the next week is likely to drop further to 16-17 degree Celsius, which would mean nights are going to be cooler.
