Rajkot: Investigation into the abduction and murder of BJP Dhoraji taluka vice-president and Parbadi village panchayat member Pradeepsinh Vala (24) has revealed that he was killed to avenge a murder allegedly committed by his father three decades ago.

Vala was abducted in an SUV on October 12 from Dhoraji town and his body was recovered the next day with multiple wounds from Dholera in Bhavnagar.

According to police, Vala's father Jethasur had allegedly murdered his maternal cousin Manglu Khachar 30 years ago in Junagadh. Police, however, have no information about that murder as Jethasur had went missing since the incident and has been untraceable since.

The Rajkot rural local crime branch (LCB), which is probing the case on Monday, booked two persons for abduction and murder of Vala. The accused include Manglu's nephew Ravi Khachar and his son-in-law Mahesh Raning Basiya. Khachar is a native of Kundani village in Jasdan taluka of Rajkot and currently resides at Sarangpur in Bhavnagar. Basiya is a resident of Sultanpur in Gondal taluka of Rajkot.

Rajkot LCB police inspector M N Rana said that the deceased and the accused both belong to the Kathi Darbar community, known to avenge deaths in the family even after decades.

Rana said that CCTV footage showed that Vala was abducted in an SUV which is registered in the name of Khachar. On further investigation and recording statement of Vala's family members it was revealed that the father of the deceased had murdered his cousin three decades ago. After it was revealed that the SUV used in abducting Vala belonged to Ravi, family members of the deceased raised apprehension that this could be to avenge the 30-year-old murder of Ravi's uncle.

Based on the information, Rana and his team recorded the statements of Khachar and Basiya's family and concluded that Vala's murder was revenge killing. The two accused are on the run and police has issued a lookout notice for them.
