Coonoor, October 30:  

Around 80 per cent of the offer was sold at Sale No: 43 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association when the market re-opened after a fortnight closure for Diwali. More volume could be sold only by dropping the average price to ₹81.85 a kg from ` 82.12 fetched in the last auctions.

Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC market when Santhosh Tea Industries bought it for ₹242 a kg. Darmona Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe Small (₹231) and Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe ( ₹212) followed. In the CTC Dust auction, Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹226 followed by Homedale Estate’s Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, at₹222.

Among orthodox teas, Chamraj topped at ₹269 a kg followed by Kodanad at ₹261 and Nonsuch ₹206.
